Under the Weather PART 2

Well, the stomach bug claimed another victim in the Kennedy household this week - Eli! On Monday evening, just as I seemed to be coming out of it, Eli threw up late that night, which triggered a repeat of the weekend before when we had to do a total change of the sheets and stripping of the bed. It was deja vu from when Emmy was sick! Eli stayed home with Boomer on Tuesday and then with Grammy on Wednesday and Thursday. He finally started to perk up on Thursday, and I was so happy to get pictures with our sweet boy smiling again. Out of precaution, I stayed home with him on Friday, to get us to the weekend without any further exposure to germs.

Luckily Emmy is back to full health and has been able to take care of the rest of us. She has also had a busy calendar of holiday events. On Tuesday evening, the 1st Grade classes at Sedge Garden had their holiday concert. Then on the very next night, it was finally time for the children's program at church. They have been practicing every Wednesday since September. Songs, motions, choreography, lines - it's a big production. We played the CD in the car often so that Emmy could practice. She had a singing part with the other 1st Graders during the opening song. Zander had one of the biggest speaking parts as the mayor of Snowflake County, where the true meaning of Christmas had been overshadowed by bright and flashy light displays and performances. The kids did an excellent job reminding us of the real reason for the season. Unfortunately Boomer and Eli missed both the Tuesday night and Wednesday night performances, but Emmy had Mommy, Grammy, and Grandpa there in the front row.

Emmy saw Santa at her school, but she was sure to tell me that he was not the real one. She knew that his beard was fake, so it has triggered conversations about all the many Santa helpers we've seen this Christmas season. For now, she still believes, and she has several things on her list that she is asking Santa for. Her letter asks for a Barbie doll house, a watch, and a bike. I was perplexed to see that she spelled her name with two 'm's, but then I remembered, at the Huff's house, Santa's Nice Book had it spelled that way. I guess she wants to make sure there is no confusion about getting her gifts!

On Friday evening, we went back to the Winter Wonderlights, and this time I got to go along! We went with the Alfaros and Moores, and we met there at 6PM. Eli was still recovering and spent most of the night in the stroller, aside from one family photo in the sleigh. (You'll see how well that turned out!) It's clear that he is not back to 100%, and now it seems that Boomer has been hit by something. His symptoms are mostly nasal and a sore throat. It's starting to feel like we may never all be well again! We were supposed to go to our Sunday School Christmas party this evening, but instead Boomer has been in bed, and the kids and I made Christmas cookies. Here's hoping that the Kennedys will be at full health to enjoy the rest of the Christmas season!
