Making a Playroom

We have enjoyed these post-Christmas days at home before the new year. It rained on the 26th and 27th, and we mostly stayed indoors. Boomer earned another #GirlDad badge for putting together Emmy's Barbie Dream House. There were so many pieces and so many stickers! This toy in particular sparked a total renovation of the office into an official playroom. From all the corners of the rooms downstairs, we gathered the toy box, the play kitchen, the basketball goal, the table and chairs, and Emmy's gymnastics mat. We are still in the process of cleaning out the garage to make room for Emmy's bike and Eli's scooter. Once the rain passed, we finally got outside on the 28th to take them for a spin.

Some other fun activities this week included: a movie outing to see Migration, Starbucks and the Tanglewood lights with Grammy & Grandpa, a trip to the Science Center, and a Wake Forest basketball game. The Deacs decisively defeated Virginia Tech 86-63, and the Kennedy record of watching games in the Joel is now 2-0. Go Deacs!

I took the photo below of Eli at breakfast this morning. As we are cleaning things out and preparing to pass along items we no longer use, one of those items is the high chair. Eli has still been using it for meals at home, but he is certainly ready for a big boy seat. I know there will be some meal soon that is his last one using it. On the plus side, it will open up more room in the kitchen...but each milestone is bittersweet as the kids are growing up. And yes, of course doesn't everyone where a baseball helmet for breakfast?!
