Eli's 1st Day of School

The biggest news this week is that Eli had his first day of preschool! He is in the Giraffes class this year, and it has been a relatively smooth transition back to school. Boomer and I (and big sister!) were able to go together on the first day to drop him off. I've loved seeing the pictures that the school posts on Facebook. He is smiling and playing in each one. Even though it was hard to take him that first day, I know that he is in a great setting for these preschool years. We love his school and all of its staff.

Even though Eli went back to school, Emmy has three more weeks of summertime. During this first week, she spent one day with Daddy coloring and hanging out in his office, one day with Mommy going to the library and being lazy in bed, and then two days with Grammy and Grandpa. When she was with Grammy, they worked on kindergarten workbooks, did chalk in the driveway, and went to the pool. The big news for Emmy this week is that she lost another tooth. The total tooth count is now up to 3! This one was a little more stubborn, since it was a top front tooth. After wiggling it for several days, the tooth was still hanging on, and so Aunt Megan helped with the final extraction. There was a little bit of blood and tears, but Emmy has been all smiles ever since, showing off the new hole in her mouth. To quote Emmy: "Losing a tooth is fun, but not actually losing a tooth."

The four Kennedys were back together on Friday for Boomer's last fun Friday off. We decided to keep Eli home from school, and we went to SciWorks. Boomer had never been before, so we enjoyed showing him all the fun stuff like putt-putt and the fishing pond.

Then today, we went to the new Qubein Children's Museum in High Point. I reserved the 10AM - 2PM time, and we stayed all four hours. Included with admission is unlimited rides on the carousel, of which we took full advantage. There was an arcade with air hockey and racing games, and there was a large room for water play. No surprise that both kids were a little wet afterwards! Mommy liked the spaceship on Mars and snuck in a quick cat nap in the vertical sleeping bags (haha!) We grabbed a late lunch at Chipotle on the way home, when both kids fell asleep during the car ride.

Just a few more photos (wow we have done A LOT in seven days!): Boomer and I went to the Wyndham Golf Tournament last Sunday with my dad. I had not been since 2019 when I was 6 months pregnant with Eli. I remember walking quite a lot, but this time, we found a shady spot on hole 10 to watch all the players come through. Boomer's favorite Webb Simpson had not made the cut, and he was disappointed, but we enjoyed being on the course nonetheless. Also, this past week we had the YCS Summer College Tour. Between the two days of Wednesday and Thursday, students had the opportunity to visit four colleges: Catawba College, Pfeiffer University, NC State, and UNC Chapel Hill. It was a successful event, but I was quite tired Thursday evening when I got home. Being around students again made me think more about the approaching school year. One last week of summer before it's back to work for Mommy!
