1st Day of 1st Grade

Before heading back to school, Emmy enjoyed one more week of Grammy Camp. With her cousins, they went to Kaleideum (twice!), the pool, and High Point City Lake Park, where Emmy made 3 holes-in-one. And they were even featured on the front page of the newspaper! What a full, fun three weeks Emmy had! Every night, after reading a couple of chapters together from her Nancy Clancy books, she fell fast asleep. We are so thankful to Grammy and Grandpa for watching her. They have made some special memories that certainly made it sad to say 'goodbye' to summer.

Before returning the free pass for the Kaleideum, Eli and I got to go one more time with Emmy on the weekend. We met up with Emmy's friend Natalie and her mom. Unfortunately Natalie is not in Emmy's class this year, but we hope that they can continue to see each other throughout the school day.
Last Thursday was the SGES Open House. Now as a big 1st Grader, Emmy had a bounce in her step as she confidently walked into the school that evening. She was even brave enough to take a picture with the school mascot. We have certainly come a long way! Emmy turned a little quiet in the classroom when we talked to her teacher Mrs. Pulliam, but she was excited to find her desk and to see who her classmates were.
And then the first day of school finally arrived for Emmy! She is officially a 1st Grader! Like last year, she will ride along in the mornings with Aunt Megan, Zander, and Maddox. I loved getting the photos of the three cousins on their walk into the building in the morning and then again at the end of the day. I also got a midday selfie of Megan and Emmy in her classroom. We are so blessed that Emmy is at Sedge Garden with her Aunt Megan. While I didn't get too many details about her day besides she had a chicken sandwich for lunch and Music for specials, Emmy declared that she "had a blast!" 1st Grade seems to be off to a great start so far.
