Last Wednesday, we had the opportunity to meet my newest nephew and the kids' newest cousin. Asher Neale Ellis was born on February 24th. With Carlin and Matt living in northern Virginia now, we had not been able to meet Asher yet, but we were excited to see him on his first trip to North Carolina. Luckily during their time in NC, we had an open evening from sports, and we made the short drive to Asheboro to meet them halfway. We had dinner at a cute southern restaurant called Magnolia 23, and we all took turns holding Asher and posing for photos. Emmy and Eli were fascinated by their cousin, and Emmy was very careful when holding him. I remembered just how sweet my husband looks with a newborn! After getting in our cuddles, we said our 'goodbye's in hopes of seeing them again soon over the summer.

Spring Fun
This past Saturday was packed full of spring fun. We started our day at the ballfield, where Eli received the game ball for his good effort in the field and his big hits at the plate. After a quick lunch, the kids and I joined the Houstons at Grammy and Grandpa's to dye Easter eggs. Our annual tradition was a little delayed this year due to our travels over the Easter weekend, but we couldn't let the holiday go by without this fun family activity. Since it was a beautiful spring day, the kids were anxious to get outside to play, but we managed to contain them in the kitchen long enough to dye the three dozen eggs. Afterwards, I headed home to meet up with Boomer for the Starmount Prom. The Starmount Prom was held at the Barn at Premier Farm in Jonesville, and before reporting for my shift, we had dinner at 2520 Tavern in Clemmons. Counting the Forbush Prom and the JROTC Military Ball, this Prom was the last of our three 'formal' events. But pretty soon, we will have Awards Days and Graduations, which usually allow for another 'date' here or there. While Boomer and I were at Prom, Emmy and Eli sweet-talked Aunt Megan and Grammy into going back to Houstons', where they had dinner, popsicles, and more play time. It was a fun evening for everyone!
As we enter into May, it seems like there is no shortage of fun activities. Eli's last trike-a-thon, Awana Grand Prix, Emmy's Field Day. It's no doubt a very busy time of year. While we are all looking forward to the slower, sunny days of summer, I am trying to enjoy each of these last moments of the school year.
