Proud Ball Mom

We had a picture perfect Saturday at the ballfield last weekend. The morning started with Emmy's game at 10AM, and she had a full cheering section there to watch her play. Uncle Goosie, Aunt Darby, and their entire crew, plus Aunt Megan, Zander, and Maddox, not to mention our faithful fans, Grammy and Grandpa - we filled the entire 1st base line. Emmy played well, both in the field and at the plate, and her team had a big win. After taking some pictures with all her fans and as we were making our way to the parking lot, Emmy was asked to play up with the Minor SB 10U girls, who were taking the field at 12PM. Our plans to go out to lunch were quickly altered, and after grabbing food from the concession stand instead, we settled back down to watch Emmy play a second game. There are a few different rules in the Minors, most significantly that a player pitches, instead of the coach. The coach will only step in if the player pitches four balls. Then the batter gets three additional pitches from the coach. Saturday's game was actually Emmy's second time playing with the Minors; she 'played up' for the first time the previous Thursday, with her friend Eva, when the Minor team knew they would be short on girls. At both games, Emmy got hits and played 1st base for a few innings. As Emmy was playing with the Minors, Eli had his game at 1PM, although technically he had been playing baseball all morning with his cousins on other open fields in the complex. He was in heaven having so many friends. All the games wrapped up about the same time around 2PM. I was in my full "ball mom" gear, and it was a Saturday to remember at the ballpark!
Both kids played games this week, Emmy on Monday and Eli on Tuesday. Granny and Paw Paw were able to come to the Monday game, which was 'away' in Clemmons. Then both kids played this morning back in Walkertown, with Emmy earning the game ball for fielding.
This past Sunday, Eli's preschool teacher, Mrs. Jennifer, hosted the entire Frogs class at her farm for an end-of-year party. Siblings were invited too, and both Emmy and Eli had the best time riding horses, petting the goats, and eating sweet treats. We have been so blessed by the teachers for both kids. So many adults have poured into them, and we are so grateful. Earlier this month, we made our last preschool payment (woo hoo!), but it is certainly with some sadness that this sweet chapter comes to an end. After the party at Mrs. Jennifer's, we went directly to Awana for Get Wet Night. Much to my surprise, Eli was not interested in getting wet, but Emmy was all for it. Just when you think you know your kids! However, just a few days later, when Eli's coach planned a surprise water gun fight after his t-ball game, both kids did not shy away and were right in the action.
