More News!

In last week's blog post, the biggest news we had to share was that Eli had started eating from a spoon. This week, we have even bigger news to share. As of July 1st, Boomer with begin his new role in Yadkin County as the Director of Secondary Schools. I am so proud of him! In this position, Boomer will oversee all aspects of the four high schools in Yadkin County: Forbush HS, Starmount HS, Yadkin Early College, and Yadkin Success Academy. He will also oversee all secondary (middle and high school) curriculum and instruction, including Career & Technical Education, Advanced Placement classes, virtual course offerings, and Career & College Promise. He will ALSO oversee media coordinators and strategies for ACT/SAT improvement. Whew, what a big job! I know that he is up to the task. He has such a passion for education, especially at the secondary level. I know that he will be an asset to the county in this new role.

It is bittersweet that Boomer will transition from his current job as Principal of Forbush High School. We are so grateful to the staff, students, and the community in East Bend. They gave us such a warm welcome four years ago with a baby shower for Baby Kennedy #1 and have continued to show us love and support ever since. I enjoyed looking back at some of our photos over these past four years from proms and Military Balls, Friday night football games to end-of-year graduations. I've loved our tradition of visiting Daddy's office over the summer, with Emmy taking over his desk and growing into his chair each year. The past four years have brought a lot of changes for our family, as we've doubled in size from a young couple to a family of four. It is fun to see these changes reflected in the pictures. Forbush will forever be a special school to us.
Thank you for your prayers as Boomer transitions to this new role over the summer. Our hope is that he can still provide leadership at Forbush while also preparing for his new responsibilities at the district level. He certainly has a big cheering squad at home - we are so proud of him!
