May Days

Another flip of the calendar and it is suddenly May! We have been chugging along since Spring Break and filling our days with work, Little League games, birthday parties, and the other fun things of small town life. The pace of the school year really picks up in May with all of the end-of-year activities. Here are a few snapshots from Emmy's week!
The temperatures have risen, and we have enjoyed a lot of time outside. We are back in our routine of walks after daycare or later in the evening when Daddy is home. On one evening that both Boomer and I had commitments, Emmy tagged along with Grammy and Grandpa to Zander's game. She even got a sticky, sweet treat to enjoy during the game.
Two weekends ago, Boomer and I fit in a date to go see the new Avengers movie, Endgame. Boomer is a big Marvel fan, so he planned the whole thing from buying the tickets ahead of time to arranging babysitting with my mom. The best time for us to go was 10:30AM, which seemed a bit on the early side for fight scenes and blood, but it turned out to be pretty perfect. I don't think I could stay up for a late movie these days! We both really enjoyed the movie, especially with the fancy seats and lots of popcorn. I love any one-on-one time that I can get with my husband! :)
This past weekend, we had another date - two Saturdays in a row! This time, our date was to the East Surry HS Prom. By our count, this was prom #15 for Boomer and me! Beforehand, we went out to dinner with our friends Ashley and Jared. We went to Kitchen Roselli, a restaurant in East Bend that we had been to previously on another double date with them. It has the best atmosphere, and the food is delicious. Their specialty is Italian, and their cream puffs are quite famous. After dinner, we headed over to the prom in Dobson at the Barn at Heritage Farm. Jared is the principal at my school, so he had bigger duties than I did. Boomer was happy to just enjoy the evening as my plus-one. We stayed for about an hour before heading back home to relieve Grammy. We had fun snapping a few photos in the photo booth!
Earlier on Saturday, we went to the Kernersville Spring Folly. It is always the first weekend in May and one of my favorite things about living in this small town. This year, the Houstons and Williamses, our normal Folly crew, planned to go later in the afternoon, but because of prom, we stuck to our usual shift in the morning. We arrived around 10AM, and after walking around briefly, we were ready for lunch! The yummy smells from all the vendors had our mouths watering by 10:30AM! I got my usual chicken pita, and Boomer went for a loaded cheeseburger. Together we split a funnel cake, and Emmy especially liked that! She also liked playing at the playground that was right in the middle of the Folly. Yay for free rides! Soon I know she will want to ride some of the bigger attractions, but at least this year, she was quite content going down the slides and climbing on the play equipment.
OH, and we made the paper! :)
There are a lot of things coming up this month! It seems that May speeds by at a breakneck pace with spring play-offs, induction ceremonies, Mother's Day, the YoungLife Golf Tournament, graduation festivities, and exams. There is always a breath of exhale when we make it to Memorial Day Weekend and the month is almost done. It is such an exciting time of year though, and I am looking forward to all the fun to come!
