Spring Folly and More Baseball

We have loved the spring weather lately, and we spent a lot of time outdoors this past weekend. On Friday, Grammy and Grandpa picked up Emmy and Eli from school. They played outside with the motorized car, and then they went to Zander's soccer game. Zander played very well and scored several of the goals to help his team advance to the second round of the tournament. Based on the pictures I received from Aunt Megan, it seems like Emmy and Eli were more interested in the snacks than soccer! While the rest of the crew was at the soccer game, Boomer and I had a date night with two other couples, the Masts and the Millers. Between the three couples, we have 7 kids under 7. With all the kids' extracurricular activities and the challenge of arranging for childcare, it's quite amazing we found a date that we were all free. We went to the Flow Club at the Dash and enjoyed a kid-free evening with food, drinks, and baseball. It was so fun, and we are already talking about another triple date soon.

On Saturday, we spent more time outside at our neighborhood park in the morning while Daddy mowed, and then in the evening, we went to the Kernersville Spring Folly. It is one of our favorite annual events in our little town. We met up with the Houstons and the Williamses to walk around and eat some fair food (blooming onion - yum!). There were pretty long lines for the rides, so luckily the kiddos were content to play on the playground at Harmon Park and get a few freebies from the vendor booths.

Boomer is recovering from a small surgery this past week. Both of us took the day off on Tuesday so that he could have a ganglion cyst removed from his ring finger. He has had the cyst for a while, but finally after enough of my badgering, he made an appointment with a specialist to have it looked at. I had told him it would likely be an easy procedure in the office, but it turned out to be a little more involved than either of us thought. Contrary to what I had told Boomer, the surgery required anesthesia because of the depth of the cyst and because of all the nerves and tendons in the finger. Boomer did great, and unfortunately I have no silly, incriminating videos from when he came out of the surgery. Certainly the surgery was no fun, but we were able to enjoy a lunch date at East Coast Wings afterwards, which was some silver lining. He has been an obedient patient in keeping it bandaged and doing his hand exercises. There will likely be a pretty good scar, but hopefully no other lasting side effects. Here's a slightly woozy Boomer post surgery and ready for some wings! We are so glad that he is back to carrying kids and throwing baseballs!
