After Emmy's first day of school on Monday, she had the day off on Tuesday as part of the staggered start for kindergarteners. Emmy spent the day at Grammy and Grandpa's, and she practiced riding her cousins' bigger bike and worked on her first homework assignment. At Open House, she was a given a blank "About Me" book to fill with pictures and facts about her. Grammy was a huge help in checking off this assignment. She provided pictures and helped with the cutting and gluing. Emmy wrote the sentences, and the finished product is so special. Emmy returned to school on Wednesday for the last three days of the week. We have settled into a routine with me taking Eli to preschool and Boomer taking Emmy to Aunt Megan's in the morning before school, and then I pick up both kids at the preschool in the afternoons. We are still working out some of the kinks...on Wednesday, Emmy went for an extra long bus ride and had to be picked up at the high school by Aunt Megan. Once we put together what happened, we figured out that Emmy's name wasn't called at her bus stop at Triad, so she stayed on until the end of the route. She knows now to get off at the church with the other two students that attend after-school care there. Emmy didn't seem as affected as Mommy; she was mostly disappointed that she missed snack that day! Luckily the rest of the week passed with no other incidents, and I love getting photos from Aunt Megan throughout the day.
We were sure glad to make it to Friday. Boomer went to the rivalry Starmount vs. Forbush football game, while the kiddos and I had a date at Chick-fil-A, followed by movie night and bedtime. On Saturday, we woke to Emmy missing another tooth! She had wiggled it all week, and finally that morning, before the rest of us were awake, she wiggled it out all by herself. After celebrating the missing tooth, we went to High Point City Lake Park to ride the train and carousel, and then that evening we had dinner with the Houstons and Williamses. On Sunday, we played hooky from church, and we headed to the lake. But first, there was a mad dash when we realized the Tooth Fairy missed our house the night before. Whew, it was a close one! Emmy was excited to find a dollar on her bookcase. We got to the lake around 10AM, and we enjoyed riding on the boat and hanging out on the dock. Emmy practiced swimming from the floating mat to the stairs. While we were there, we celebrated Paw Paw's birthday and Granny and Paw Paw's anniversary. We left after suppertime and pulled in at home around 9:30PM with two sleeping kiddos in the backseat.
With our bonus day of the Labor Day Weekend, we slept in and then went to the Science Center. The cool temperatures in the mid 70s brought a glimpse of fall.
This week we start DANCE! I think Emmy is excited!
