After our big baseball trip, our summer adventures have continued locally in and around Kernersville. We've been to the YMCA for workouts and trips to the pool. We also went to the library for some new books: a Fancy Nancy for Emmy and a baseball book for Eli. They especially liked playing on the computers. The kids are becoming quite skilled with technology. They have even figured out how to take photos on Mommy's phone! Other adventures have included walks around the neighborhood and meeting friends at the playground. We've had sweet treats and juicy burgers. When Boomer had his day off on Friday, we ventured to Lexington to try Nick's Old Fashion Burgers. That evening, we had a belated celebration for Megan's birthday, and Emmy got a picture with the "Best Aunt Ever!"
Usually for the holiday weekend, we would head to the lake to see Boomer's family. Unfortunately his mom has not been feeling well, still fighting fatigue and other symptoms from mono. We stayed around Kernersville and took part in some of the festivities of our little town. On Saturday, we went over to the Duggins' house for a cookout. They have an awesome pool and backyard. Emmy even jumped off the diving board...holding her nose, just like her Mommy. Earlier today, we went to the town's Fourth of July Parade. Eli loved the firetrucks, and Emmy loved the necklaces, flags, and all the candy. We've opted to stay in this evening instead of venturing back out for fireworks. As I write this, both kiddos are bathed and in pajamas, watching an episode of Spidey & His Amazing Friends. Hopefully it's early bedtimes for everyone. We've enjoyed our holiday weekend!
