Boomer and I had a fun weekend in Raleigh for his baby sister's wedding. It is hard to believe that Carlin is now a married woman! It was a beautiful wedding, and she was a stunning bride. We arrived in Raleigh in the late afternoon on Friday, and after checking into the hotel, we made our way to the rehearsal dinner at Trophy Brewing and Pizza. We had a delicious meal, and there were toasts and funny stories shared by the bridal party. On Saturday morning, Boomer and I walked from the hotel to a nearby breakfast spot called The Morning Times. I had the sweet chicken biscuit, and Boomer got a breakfast burrito. It was so nice to enjoy a leisurely Saturday morning. It is rare to sleep in until after 8AM, not to mention enjoy our meal while it is still warm and with uninterrupted conversation. We sure loved the unexpected breakfast date! Around 10AM, we headed to the wedding venue to help with decorating and setting up. There was a little bit of downtime in the afternoon, before we headed back to the venue for pre-ceremony photos. The ceremony was at 4:30PM, followed by a cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing. It was such a fun evening! We headed back to Kernersville this morning and retrieved the kiddos from my parents. Emmy and Eli spent the weekend at Grammy and Grandpa's, making pumpkin cookies and going to their cousin's soccer game and church. Eli especially liked sitting with Grandpa in his chair, and both kids liked bathing with bubbles in Grammy's big garden tub. It was all around a wonderful weekend!
Emmy and Eli dressed up on Friday for their school's fall parties. Emmy went as Elsa, and Eli went as Iron Man (minus the mask, which stayed at home). This evening, I was tempted to skip on dressing up again, but it is Halloween after all and Emmy was quick to notice all the activity in our cul-de-sac. So the kids donned their costumes again. Emmy, Eli, and I made a swing through our neighborhood, while Boomer stayed home to pass out candy. After about an hour, we came back home, and we are settled in for the evening with baseball on TV while the kids are sleeping. (The Braves are playing in Game 5 of the World Series!)
I wanted to include some sweet photos of our duo, just the everyday scenes in the Kennedy house. Eli is becoming a little bookworm, and in the mornings and in the evenings, he will drag around his "banket" with several "goops" to read. Emmy will often sit with him in the rocking chair and point out colors and shapes for Eli to repeat. His vocabulary is expanding so much. He recently got a haircut, and it makes him look like such a big boy. In addition to books, Eli loves charging down the hallway with a ball in his hand, and he loves eating, especially cake from Maddox's birthday. Emmy and Eli have their moments when they fuss and fight, but most days Emmy will take her brother's hand to lead him to the car after school. I love watching their relationship grow!
