Emmy Graduates Kindergarten

We have a kindergarten graduate! On Wednesday, Emmy's class had a special celebration to mark the end of the school year. Her teacher Mrs. Wooten and teacher assistant Mrs. Dalton planned a program with a special song, remarks from the principal and assistant principal, and then the presentation of awards. Our girl got the Super Speller Award and the Spread Kindness Award. I am especially proud of the kindness award; it makes my heart happy to know that she is a kind friend to her classmates. I had trouble picking my favorite pictures, so I'm including them all here :)

Emmy's official last day of school was today. She posed for a few photos just like on the first day, and it is impossible not to notice just how much she has grown. 

We also got some cute pictures of the cousins, from their first day and their last. Emmy has loved riding with the Houstons and hanging out in Aunt Megan's office before the school day begins. 

Even though Mommy has a few more workdays, Emmy and Eli are already in summer mode. Eli has been going to Grammy and Grandpa's this week, and he has been quite spoiled with the individual attention. They have gone on walks, raced cars in the hallway, played baseball in the yard, and had other fun adventures. In the afternoons, they have picked up Emmy from school, and she has loved being a car rider for these last few days.  

I was surprised to receive a few thank-you notes and gifts from my students in the final days of the school year. I continue to feel like I have found my fit at the high school in college and career advising. It is hard to believe that I am wrapping up my 14th year in education. My last Teacher Workday is this coming Wednesday. Then I will become fulltime mom/cruise director/activities coordinator for the next 8 weeks. The Kennedys are excited for summer!

The Most Fun Weekend

We are in the final days of the school year. To prepare for the hot summer days, Emmy got a hair cut! She had several inches taken off, and the new length is so cute on her. She had a bounce in her step and in her ponytail for the next few days after the hair cut :) 

 

Emmy is continuing with gymnastics through the month of June. She is really improving with her cartwheel, roundoff, and bridge, and with assistance, she is working on her front- and back- walk-overs. No decision has been made for the fall yet. TBD on dance or gymnastics!

Eli had his last day of preschool on Friday, June 2nd. Emmy isn't so happy that little brother started his summer a week early, and he made sure she knew all about it! He counted down each day of the last week. I think he has high expectations for the summer, and I'm hopeful that I can deliver on all his big ideas. He has grown so much during his year in preschool. He consistently had good reports each day. He has learned to count to 20, and he knows his ABCs. He has made friends with his classmates, and it is so sweet to see them greet each other in the mornings and say goodbye in the afternoons. We will especially miss his teachers, Mrs. Cathy and Mrs. Lori. Our big boy is ready to move upstairs to the older-3s in the fall!

On Friday evening, the Kennedy boys and Kennedy girls went separate ways, with the boys going to Winston for a Wake baseball game and the girls heading to Greensboro to see Frozen. When Wake became a site for the college baseball regionals, Boomer bought an all-weekend pass for the games on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Even though the Friday night game was late, Eli was a good companion and enjoyed watching the game with Daddy. For the girls, we went with my mom, Emmy's friends Heidi and Peyton, and their mommies Ryan and Jaime Jo to see the Broadway production of Frozen at the Tanger Center. We carpooled together in Jaime Jo's van and had dinner at The Loop beforehand. Our seats at the Tanger Center were on the fourth row, and it was amazing to see all the actors' expressions and the details on their costumes. Elsa's blue dress during Let It Go was stunning! Our three princesses were in awe. They were also quite tired when it ended a little after 10PM. All three fell asleep on the ride back to Kernersville. What fun nights we had at the theater and at the ballpark!

The weekend continued with more fun on Saturday. Mom, Meg, and I had our annual spa day at the Grandover. We had appointments for massages at 10AM, and like in past years, we took full advantage of the amenities, starting with a workout in the fitness center and then spending the rest of the afternoon poolside. Around 4PM, we took showers and cleaned up for dinner. We came back to Kernersville and ate at J Pepper's. The boys really stepped up to allow us moms to enjoy a day off. Boomer watched the kids during the day, and then Grandpa watched them for a couple of hours in the evening when Boomer went back to Winston for more baseball. Our spa day is always one of my favorite days of the year, and it comes and goes too fast. 

Inspired by Mommy's day at the Grandover, Emmy ran a spa today, complete with massages and hair services. Eli is always a good sport to go along with her ideas.
